This week, I had the opportunity to revisit The Bridges in Wayne County, Tennessee, for the first time since the property transitioned to new private ownership in August of last year. This site has been on my radar for a long time—especially after it was announced that Tennessee Fitness Spa would be closing and putting the property up for sale.
For years, this location has been a frustrating mix of untapped potential and breathtaking natural beauty. If you’ve ever picked up a Nashville’s Big Backyard rack card, you’ve probably seen the striking image of the double-span land bridge, the only one of its kind in the world. But trust me—no photo or description can do it justice. It’s something you have to experience in person to truly understand. As Stan Bevis, one of the new owners, shared, the biggest challenge is simply getting people there for the first time—because once they see it, they’re hooked.
From Limited Access to an Open Invitation
Until last August, public access to this property was severely limited—restricted to a short, two-hour window on Sundays. As anyone in tourism marketing will tell you, that’s nearly impossible to promote effectively.
Now, thanks to the incredible investment from the Bevis family, the property has undergone a transformation. They’ve added newly renovated rooms, a refreshed kitchen, and updated amenities throughout. The Bridges is no longer just a hidden wonder—it’s a full-fledged destination.
Visitors can now enjoy:
A general store, coffee shop, and restaurant along 48 Creek
Various water features, a cave, and of course, the stunning double-span natural bridge
Cabins and RV hook-ups with full power and septic
Wide, accessible roadways making travel easy
A stage, Adirondack chairs, and fire pits—perfect for a relaxing getaway
But most importantly, the property is finally open for the public to explore. That means locals who have never seen it before, regional travelers, and even visitors from around the world now have access to this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
A Bright Future for Wayne County
The Bridges is more than just a stunning natural attraction—it’s a game-changer for Wayne County tourism. Along with the Natchez Trace, the Tennessee River, and the charming towns of Clifton, Collinwood, and Waynesboro, this region is poised for incredible growth in the coming years. With the right leadership, smart investments, and a renewed focus on tourism, Wayne County has the potential to become a major destination in Tennessee.
If you haven’t been to The Bridges yet, now is the time. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or a deeper connection with nature, this hidden gem is ready to welcome you.
